Alissa White-Gluz

Alissa White-Gluz is an internationally acclaimed metal vocalist known for her powerful voice, commanding stage presence, and trailblazing role in extreme music. Widely recognized as the longest-serving female death metal vocalist, she has spent over two decades performing on the world’s biggest stages, building a reputation as one of the genre’s most versatile and electrifying frontwomen.
White-Gluz first rose to prominence in 2002 as one of the founders of Canadian metal band The Agonist, where her unique style, unapologetic energy, dynamic vocal range and thought-provoking lyrics helped establish the group as a standout force in modern metal. Her ability to seamlessly blend ferocious growls with soaring melodic vocals set her apart in the heavy music world at a time when such versatility was rare. The band landed a record deal with their very first EP and quickly began touring internationally.
She has also been a longtime collaborator with power metal legends Kamelot, bringing her signature theatrical presence and sonic intensity to the band’s live performances, music videos, and albums.
In 2013, White-Gluz joined the melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, ushering in a new era as the band’s lead vocalist. With White-Gluz at the forefront, Arch Enemy experienced the most commercially successful period in its history, releasing critically acclaimed albums and performing to massive audiences worldwide.
Beyond her work with these bands, White-Gluz has collaborated extensively across the metal world, appearing as a guest vocalist with numerous respected artists. With more than fifteen hours of recorded music, over 2000 concerts performed, over 60 music videos and over forty collaborations to her name, she has built an iconic presence across multiple subgenres of heavy music.
In 2026, White-Gluz launched her new band, BLUE MEDUSA, marking a bold new creative chapter. Featuring a powerhouse lineup of female musicians, the band includes guitarists Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia, whose technical precision and musical education contribute to the project’s commanding sound.
White-Gluz explains: “Blue Medusa represents strength, independence, and creative fearlessness. I wanted to build something that showcases women in heavy music at the highest level; not as a statement, but as a standard. My lyrics have layer upon layer of hidden meanings – they are basically becoming my memoirs. I have such a strong connection with my fanbase that I know these lyrics will entrance those with a keen eye and ear… all while maintaining a fun, energetic and interesting sound overall.”
Beyond music, White-Gluz is also a dedicated and outspoken animal rights advocate. A lifelong vegan, she actively supports global animal welfare initiatives and frequently uses her platform to promote ethical living, environmental responsibility, and compassion toward animals and humans alike. She regularly partners on campaigns with Animal Justice, The Battered Women’s Justice Project, Trees for the Future, Peta, Mercy for Animals, International Animal Rescue and many more.
As she continues developing new material while maintaining an active schedule of releases and appearances, Alissa White-Gluz stands poised for a powerful new phase in her career, combining creative autonomy, bold artistic vision, and sustained global momentum.
